Phones brought from abroad can generally use Turkish networks for up to 120 days before IMEI registration applies — a non-issue for holidays, but long stays should check current BTK (btk.gov.tr) or e-Devlet guidance, as the rules can change.
Many taxis, bazaar stalls and smaller lokantas prefer cash, so ATM runs and live exchange rates become a data job — keep maps and your banking app connected rather than hunting for Wi-Fi.
Balloon-flight confirmations arrive by email overnight and pickups run before dawn; the valley floors can carry weaker signal, so download offline maps the evening before you hike.
